Dr. Steve Mills

steveSteve grew up in Calgary, Alberta in the foothills of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. His first pet was a lovely, energetic Labrador Retriever named Nikki. According to his mother, Steve displayed a strong bond with dogs and cats from a very early age. While attaining a Bachelor of Commerce and then a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, he met the love of his life. Just six months later they promptly pulled up stakes and headed to Saskatoon so Steve could attend Veterinary School at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After finishing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2011, Steve pursued an opportunity to specialize in Veterinary Clinical Pathology, going on to complete a three-year medical residency. Since 2014, Steve has had the honor and privilege to practice Small Animal Medicine in the Edmonton Area. In late 2016, he attained his Diplomat Status (American College of Veterinary Pathology) after challenging and passing his board examination.

Steve now counts seven family members whom he absolutely adores, including his beautiful wife Ginevra, three young children Adrien, Everett, Eleanor and last but not least two feisty cats Sara and Katie. When he is not at the clinic, Steve’s other interests include nutrition, fitness and electronic music.

Mackenzie

Hi my name is Mackenzie and I am the only Registered Animal Health Technician here at Mercy Animal Hospital. I graduated from NAIT’s Animal Health Technology Program in 2014 and wrote my VTNE exam shortly after. Some of my favorite parts of being a technician are radiology, surgery and almost anything gross and gooey that comes in. At home I have 3 fur babies, a Rottweiler named Kali, a Shepherd cross named Whiskey and a Chihuahua named Copey (Yes, he is crazy). In my spare time I volunteer with Gears Animal Rescue with their outreach program and fostering puppies. I also enjoy playing softball, floor hockey, going camping and travelling.
